When it comes to hammock stands, there are a number of different reasons that you may want one and because of that, we suggest different types of stands for different applications. You wouldn’t want to try and take a heavy 15-foot wooden stand on a camping trip, even if you were only walking a short distance.
Because of the variety of types of hammock stands, we figured that you might want recommendations for a stand that you can easily bring with you, a stand that you can easily move around your property, and a stand that won’t be moved at all. We did the research and we would choose the following three stands as our favorites for different those three applications. We also found two stands that intrigue us, we have included them as bonus items on our list!
If you have any questions specifically about the length of stands, check out this post we did on that previously.
Our Favorite Portable Camping Hammock Stand: The ENO Nomad
As we’ve mentioned in our article about setting up a hammock at the beach, the Eno Nomad really is our choice when it comes to a portable stand. In fact, this stand isn’t only portable but it’s intended to be carried around. One downside to this means that it is not made to be left set up during bad weather regularly.
Just like ENO’s hammocks, the Nomad stand is hard to find cheap; however, other quality hammock stands that are marketed as lightweight and portable, are usually more expensive. This makes the Eno Nomad our pick as the best lightweight stand for the price.
When we say that the ENO Nomad is lightweight, we mean that it weighs 15 pounds. It is made of anodized aluminum alloy with impact resistant plastic. Another downside to all lightweight stands is that they all most always weight more than tents, but the Nomad is light enough for most people to carry short distances so that’s a plus. The stand itself is rated to hold 300 pounds.
The Nomad can comfortably be set up in a 14×5 foot space. In the carrying case, it is just over 2.5 feet long and under a foot wide; the case comes with a shoulder strap for easy carrying. The stand is able to be set up quickly and easily, it sets up just like most tents and all you need is flat ground. As mentioned above, the stand packs up small which also makes it simple to store.
Another good thing about dealing with ENO is that they have a 2-year warranty from any manufacturers defects!
Our Favorite Smaller Stand The Sunnydaze 2 Person Space Saving Brazilian Hammock Stand
The Sunnydaze 2 Person Space Saving Brazilian Hammock Stand is a great stand for at home if you are looking for something that you can take apart and easily store away. Many people will do this during the winter, or if they need the space for something else for the time being.
Although the hammock is marketed as a Brazilian Hammock Stand, you could hook up a parachute hammock. How easy it would be would depend on the size of your hammock but the stand is long enough that you should be able to make it work. For this stand you want your Brazilian Hammock to be between 10 and 12.5 feet long but parachute hammocks should be shorter.
The Sunnydaze 2 Person stand is 9 feet long and 4 feet wide, making it a shorter hammock stand than most. It comes in three different colors; Black, Bronze, and Green. As we said earlier, it’s designed for Brazilian hammocks between 10 and 12.5 feet long.
The stand is made of heavy-duty steel tubing and can be put together quickly without any tools. It comes with a carry bag and weighs 38 pounds. You probably won’t be taking this on a three-day long hike but it may be suitable for a day at the beach. The stand itself can hold 450 pounds.
Sunnydaze offers a one year warranty for manufacturers defects at the time this was written.
Our Favorite Large Stand
The OnCloud Wooden Arc Hammock Stand is a larger stand that comes with chains and hooks for suspension; these can be removed. This stand is a great option if you are looking to leave something assembled a little bit more permanently. This stand would be perfect for you if you have a pool or live by the beach.
This hammock stand is also perfect if you are looking for a stand that can support hammocks with spreader bars, it’s the only stand on our list that is designed to do so. We wouldn’t recommend this stand for Brazilian hammocks, but we think that you should be able to rig your parachute one onto this stand with the right suspension or if the hammock is the right length.
There are also different sizing options as it comes in two different sizes; 10.5 and 15 feet. Both seem easy to assemble.
The 15 foot model of The OnCloud Wooden Arc is clearly not made to be portable. It’s 15 feet long, 4 feet wide, and stands at 5 feet high. Without a hammock, this stand weighs over 50 pounds so you probably aren’t leaving home with it. Its advertised maximum weight capacity is 33 pounds.
Again, we don’t recommend this style of stand for Brazilian hammocks as it seems like it would be difficult to rig it up. If you found a way to do so, please let us know in the comments below.
Two Intriguing Stands
When we were looking for stands we found these two models intriguing. Take a look and let us know what you think in the comments below.
DD Hammocks Ultralight Hammock: The Ultralight Hammock from DD Hammocks looks really interesting to us. We have seen videos and pictures and still can’t believe it works. This stand is said to weigh less than 2.5 pounds. That sounds too good to be true!
Eno Roadie Hammock Stand: This stand is as long as your vehicle’s tires are apart. This is because the two posts that you use as anchors are held down by the weight of the car. We think this is a cool idea but we are unsure of how well it works.
If you have tried either of these two stands or any other unique models, please let us know below. We would love to hear all about it because these are products that we think would be fun to try ourselves.
There are a number of styles of stands for a number of different applications and styles. We hope that you have found something that suits your needs in our recommendations. Whether you are looking for something to take on the go, or to set up at home; or you have a spreader bar, parachute, or Brazilian hammock, there is a stand out there that will suit your needs!
